Well I have made it through one month of twelve! Todays pic I just wanted to show you a cute blanket my wife made for the little one on the way. The blanket has golf carts and golf clubs and other golf related items on it. Still keep an eye out on the blog for the shoots I had this weekend. Its been busy so I have not been able to work on them too much. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some up! Check back for my 365 week project picture also! Thanks for stopping by!

Its been a busy and crazy weekend. I had a shoot yesterday, and a long shoot today, and continuing on with yet another shoot at my dads golf course tomorrow! Crazy huh? Busy me. I guess its good though. But the weekends fly by a bit quick. Oh well. I am tired now and my pictures from today's shoot are loading onto my computer. So stay tuned for those to be posted here on my blog and here on my facebook. Today I took a pic using a very wide aperture. f2.8 to be exact. What this does is create a very selective focus point. As you will see from this picture, there is a very select spot that I was focused on. Well enjoy! Hope your weekend has been a great one!
Baby update: We bought a few outfits today for the little one, and also a car seat. My wife is now 22 weeks along! We go back to the specialist again a week from monday. Keeping our hope up!

I have had this idea for a while. Didn't quite know if it was going to work. But it turned out alright. This is a 30 second exposure with a burst of light for a split second to expose me and the piano. The light was drawn during the 30 second exposure with a flash light. Took a few times to get it right, as the notes didn't come out right. One would look good but the other would not. So I did it till I got a result I liked. Want to hear some of my piano music that I have composed? Go to www.myspace.com/chaseismusic What do you think? Here is the pic!

Its going to be another busy one. I have a ton of shoots to do. Stay tuned for some of those! Come back here and see some after this weekend!

Well here it is, nearly midnight on the 27th and I am busting out my pic... Late, late, late. I am tired. This was a fun pic to do. It was cold water that I used, which after I realized its still winter, and cold water was probably not the best to use. Of course I didnt think of this till after three shots and three shirt changes! Anyways, what do you think?

Today I had a very hard time thinking of what I wanted to do for my picture. So I just went into the studio and played with the lights till I liked something. I think this turned out pretty nice for just messing around with lighting set ups. I have never done this set up before, so there is still some tweaking to do if I try this again, but for the way it turned out now for the first time, I am very pleased. What do you think? What do you like? Anything wrong with it? Well other then that, things went well today. My class tonight was very fun. Photography is very fun anyways, but its also fun to go to class and talk about it. Well here is the photo:

25/365 Tired of the cold...
The only good about the winter is the snow in the mountains. Except this winter, where I have yet to take advantage of the snow in the mountains. I bought myself and my wife all new set ups for snowboarding last year, and this year she cant even go cause she is pregnant. But thats a good thing. But for me, why have I not been up? No one ever seems to go of who I know that snowboards. So here I am, down in the valley, freezing my bum off. Is it spring yet?
Well as for the pregnancy (if you are keeping tabs), we went to the specialist again today. One problem gone, and another one gained. I wish the baby boy was here already. But we still have to wait, and wait, with a little hope that everything is going to be okay, but still with a bit of uncertainty of what the future holds for our dear baby boy.

I was shooting around for my assignment for school and had to shoot in tungsten lighting. Though you cant see the effect of the tungsten light in here because I edited the photo from the orange light to what it looks like now, it was originally orange. Shooting under tungsten light will leave an orange color on your photos if you dont set your camera correctly. Same goes for shooting under fluorescent lights, except you will get a green tint color on your photos. So make sure you camera white balance is set correctly for the correct light you are shooting in. Well here is the portrait from today. My camera is pretty much glued to my face lately (ask my wife)...

Day 23 loungin' with the dog
Today was a busy day for photography. I had an event I went to with a bunch of other photographers and shot some models, I then came home and shot some pictures of my cousin (she is 25 weeks along) and then I shot some pictures of just my dog. And then to top it all of I took my 365 day picture which also has my dog in it. Here we are just lounging in the studio:

I sacrificed my mouth for todays photo. Yup thats a habanero. A very very very hot pepper which is 100+ times hotter than a jalapeno. This weeks theme for the photo competition over at the 365 day flickr contest group is "red". So I had this thought in my head of years back when I tried a habanero for the very first time and how hot it was. I thought I would try and eat a habanero and take a picture of the sweat and redness of my face... Well here is the final product. I even have steam coming out of my ears it was so hot! Was probably an idiotic idea cause I could have seriously died or something right?

I have had this image in my head for a while. The only difference of the one in my head is that its just a complete outline. But after snapping the first photo I liked how much light had made it onto my chest. So I kept it. What do you think? Well I might have a few photos making it onto the blog after this weekend that dont have to do with my 365 day project. 20/365 Fruit again?
Yes, fruit! Eat some, its good for you. Well I had a very long class tonight. My film class is once a week for four hours long. Needless to say, I was really never home today. When I finally made it home, there was this fruit basket sitting in the living room that some of the neighborhood ladies had made for my wife. Well I stole it and took it in to my studio and now my studio smells of yummy fruit. Sorry for the two days of fruit. Hey, maybe you will see three days of fruit. I have some real good ideas for my pictures down the line, so keep coming back for more! Like what you see? Leave a comment. Hate what you see? Leave a comment! Thanks for stopping by! Day 18...It feels like day 793... Anyone else doing this project have days where it feels like you have been doing it forever? Today I wanted to do a simple portrait. But I liked how the picture looked with the hood on. The lines and shadowing in the pic are nice...What do you think? Well not to much to report besides I had the day off. It was a nice day off. One more week till my wife and I go meet with the specialist again to see how the baby is coming along. Stay tuned for that news... Well here is the pic:

17/365 The internet is a dangerous place!
Thats right, it sure can be, and if your not careful you will walk away with a black eye, or a fat lip. This photo was actually inspired by a guy named David Hobby: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidhobby/447819702/ David Hobby is known for helping many learn off camera flash and bringing off camera flash to the masses. As in the olden days (80's, 90's) mostly pro photographers were the only ones who knew much about off camera flash. But because of www.strobist.com, many have learned the art of off camera flash. But, since David has done this photo, I have seen maybe over a hundred people replicate the same exact photo to the "T" and I was getting a bit annoyed in a way because I am one who tries to stay original, so I did a spoof of this photo making it a bit more fun. I know my editing is not the best, but thats ok, right? What do you think. And remember to be careful on the internet or it will hit you in the face!

I dont really know what I was doing here. My idea was that I was floating, but after the shooting it doesnt look much like that. I am really tired and need some rest. I kinda am getting tired of the cold. I want so much to go out and not be cold. Its hard to go out and want to take a bit of time to shoot when its so cold. Yesterday I froze shooting the pic, so I am waiting for it to warm up a bit, or till I feel like bundling up and going out for a bit, which I might do soon cause I want to get out of the studio and get some cool shots outside.
Well today I had this idea. Do you ever feel like you try to remind yourself something but later on you just cant remember what you were supposed to remember? Yeah, happens to me a lot!

Crazy day. I thought I would rush home after class tonight so I could get to bed early, but I was wrong. The skies seemed to clear up a bit and the sun came out from the nasty pollution...eh hem... I mean inversion. So when I went to class tonight, the sun had yet to set and it was looking that the air quality was clearing up a bit. I found out it was the exact opposite when I left my class and headed outside. It was crazy foggy outside. I mentioned to another student "if only we had my tripod, this would make for some cool pictures." Well a bit disappointed I didnt have my tripod on me I walked away not knowing when it would be foggy again to take some pics in it. So I decided to just set my camera on my bag, and headed back to the spot I wanted to shoot at. So I got it all set up and stepped into frame. I love how it turned out. What do you think? Day 14:

Well I figured I'd go out and jump for all of you today. I found out that while jumping and taking a picture of me, I kinda look like an idiot. I must have taken a dozen of shots where my face looked like I got punched in mid air, another dozen of me looking like I have five chins, and a few more that made me look like I have never jumped a day in my life. I wish it were not so cold outside. I think I would have a bit more fun taking outside pics. But I also do live in a city that ranks one of the highest in worst air quality to be breathing in in the nation. Not good is it? Well heres jumping right into day 13!

Its official. My days are now jam packed. School started up again. So now thats one more thing to add onto my day. though I only have classes tuesday-thursday, so that gives me weekends to shoot and have my life. But its all going to work out. Education is a good thing, so I press forward. But for day 12 I had this idea for a while now. I think if I shoot it again I will change a couple of things. But thats how we learn. Its always easy to be judgmental about my own work, so tell me what you think:

11/365 Late night snackin', caught in action
Well what to say..... I like ice cream. Maybe a little too much. Add butterfingers in the ice cream and, ohhhhhh, what a treat! Not too much to report today. We are at my wife's sisters house for the next couple of days. I also start classes tomorrow. We will see how much time that takes of mine added to everything else. Life sure can get busy sometimes. I find it a good thing right now though because the quicker the time goes by, the quicker we can get my wife off of bed rest and a baby in my arms. Well here is the pic for the day. DAY 10!!!! Double digits!!! I was curious what I would look like as a Na'vi. If you dont know what that is then you have not seen the movie Avatar yet. It is a very good movie. I would recommend you go see it. I went to lunch and then to Avatar with my father yesterday. I had seen it once but he had not seen it yet. So we went. I would go see it again. Actually I would love to go see it on the IMAX screen in 3D. That would be really great! Today was a decent day too. After church I took the time shooting this photo and doing the edit. I did not think it would take so long. But it was quite the task to edit this. I did shoot myself in blue but then had to do the rest of the editing. Well here it is!

Is that a lightbulb in your mouth or are you just happy to see me?
Well actually both! Thanks for stopping by to check out my photos! I am full of electricity today. As you can see, enough to light a lightbulb! Today was a decent day, except all day I was thinking and thinking of what my photo was going to be of. After dinner, I still had no idea what I was going to shoot. Day 9 and I am already out of ideas? What is this? Actually, I am full of ideas, it just took some time to realize that. This idea came to my head just after dinner.....Can I light a lightbulb in my mouth without post edit work, all done in the shoot without electrocuting myself? Well it turns out yes I can. And if you remember from a couple days back I tried a new lighting technique trying to get the white paper background to turn grey. Well look at the white paper now in this photo. Its more grey then the day I was trying the technique and it was on accident today! Now I know a better way to get it grey.
On another note, apparently the baby has been moving around quite a bit in my wife's tummy tonight! I wish I could feel the baby, but soon enough I am sure I will. Anyways here is the photo...

I have felt so tired lately. Not only tired, but stress and emotions have taken over somewhat. As you have read over the past couple of days about what's going on with my wife and her pregnancy, it has gotten both of us a bit worried about how things are going to turn out. We have hope though that things will work out ok. If you missed what's going on, she is at 18 weeks along in her pregnancy and has had some complications. Her water broke at 15 weeks, and without enough fluid the baby's lungs wont develop. But we met with a high risk Dr. on monday and she was very optimistic about there being enough fluid in there for the baby. Time will tell. We go back in two and a half weeks and will be able to see if the lungs have developed. If they have, at 24 weeks becuase of what has happened, my wife will be put in the hospital until the baby is born. They are planning on the baby to be born early, possibly up to 16 weeks early. Its amazing that babies can be saved that early. But anytime before 24 weeks they cant save a baby. So we are hoping everything turns out for the better. But it sure is wearing us thin. Here is day 8 pic

Well, since we found out its a boy, my wife has been looking over many names trying to narrow it down to the ones she likes. I have been having a more hard time deciding on names I like. I mean, come on! A book that has 100,001+ names in it, how do they expect a guy to narrow it down? Its not only a book with names in it but its got the "best baby names" in it. So with all of these great names, how will I ever contribute a list of what I like? Man, I am so confused.
Well my wife is doing good. She is 18 weeks along, and from the Dr. appointment on monday, the baby is developing well so far. We are still very worried though because at 15 weeks her water broke and now there is limited fluid in there. Without fluid the lungs will not develop. But the Dr seemed very optimistic about it. There is fluid in there, enough for the baby to move around, we just need to wait a few more weeks to make sure the lungs develop. If they do then at 24 weeks she will be admitted to the hospital for the remainder of her pregnancy, which they think she will deliver early. So since monday we are more hopeful that things are going to turn out just fine. The baby might just be born as early as 24 weeks. Well, heres to choosing a name!

Today was a very long day. I have been really tired lately. I think its about to get worse too because school starts next week. But that is life sometimes right? I love the weekends mostly because I can somewhat catch up on sleep. But if you know me you know whats been going on lately in my life. My wife is 18 weeks along in her pregnancy, and we just found out that we are having a boy. She has had some complications though and has been on bed rest for 10 weeks now. The doctor seemed very hopeful when we met with her on monday, but if my wife makes it to 24 weeks, she will have to be admitted to the hospital till she has the baby. What a emotionally draining pregnancy this has been, but it will all be worth it when our boy is born. Until then keep checking back here day to day to see my daily picture! Do you ever get those days where your ideas just dont work? I went outside to take a portrait, but the pictures just were not turning out how I wanted them to turn out. It was also cold and getting dark. So I decided to leave the outside portraits to maybe when it gets warmer and another day where my ideas may actually turn out alright. So I brought it inside and went down in the basement to my "studio". I purchased a pure white 53"x12yds seamless paper backdrop today. I decided to try to make the white look grey (without editing in photoshop or a similar program). I didnt know really how to do this, though I had an idea. As you can see in the picture the background is indeed grey. So here is my 5th day photo. I am holding a snoot pointed at my eye lit from the key light which has a beauty dish on it, doing this just for fun. It sure bothered me that nothing looked good to me outside today. It was just one of those days I guess. But there are other days right? Well 360 to be exact! We will get more creative as it warms outside hopefully. This picture was more of an exercise to me to try to see if I can do this type of picture. For the first time trying, its not so bad, but I will practice more as the days and months go on. Hope tomorrow will be a bit better for me and the photo. Thanks for reading! Follow, comment if you like, or if you have something to add or say! Thanks for reading. Here is the photo:

My inner child is ready to get out! Well not really, but its a good thing there is not three of me, or three of me playing a video game against each other. I would most likely throw the controller at myself. As you can see in the picture, one of me is enjoying winning, the other thinks its very unfair, and the last one of me is scared because one of me is mad thinking its unfair! A complex brain I have huh? Ha not really. But anyways here is the picture for day 4. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed shooting and editing it! Comment and follow!

Not only is it 2010 but starting tomorrow normal work weeks begin again. Time flies sometimes when I sure dont want it too. I love long weekends, and there have been two in a row. School also picks up again next week. So life gets back to its busy bustle of craziness. At least I will have one more week before my time is completely taken. I also bet this week will fly by. I have a dilemma..... I hate facial hair, but yet I hate shaving. Its a lose lose situation. So I usually grow it out for a week, bite the bullet and then shave. Rinse and repeat. Every now and then I also need a haircut. My wife went to school for that, so she is the lucky one to cut my hair. Though as you can see, I don't have too much hair left. Kinda a sad thing but oh well. Today I had to bite the bullet. It was a twofer day. Had to do both shave and get a haircut. Its done now and my wife loves the smooth face!

1/365 day project
With the beginning of the new year, brings the beginning of a new project. The 365 day project. I first stumbled upon the idea of the project from a very creative photographer, Stephen Poff. He started doing this a few years back and the idea caught on with many others. You can go here to see many photos of his, especially his 365 day project photos from years back.
The main idea behind the project is to take one photo a day for a year of yourself, a self portrait, and write something like a daily journal. I decided to give this idea a try and see what kind of creative pictures I can come up with this year on a day to day basis. Though this will not be too much of a walk in the park, it will be fun to look back in 364 days at what the year brought. So stop on by day to day to see the 365 picture of the day.
Today brought this picture below, a kinda "What did I take on?" picture. Thats what I feel like with this project anyways. But a commitment like this, I believe, will help me get some ideas to stay creative, and also help me grow as a photographer and an artist. Life is busy as it is, but this will be fun. So lets see what each day brings! I will continue to talk about my other photography ventures on this blog also, so click that follow blog button and come back every day! Leave a comment! Have a question? Send me a message.
